Just over 90 day in the role, Watch Rob’s July update

Rob McAfee, Chief Executive, Wellgate

Hello everyone. I can't quite believe it, but I'm ninety days into the job now, and the time has flown by; what a lovely summer we've had.

Here's my video update for this month.

As always, I'd love to know what you want more of from these updates. What's landed well, what have you enjoyed hearing about, and what would you like me to cover more of next time?

If you don't get the chance to watch the whole thing, here's a summary of what I cover.

Before anything else, I want to say a proper thank you to everyone who's kept going through the recent heat. I know how physically demanding your jobs are at the best of times, let alone in that kind of temperature.

I also wanted to give a huge shout-out to the team at Rose Cottage. One of their colleagues fell seriously ill at work, and Sandra and her team acted immediately, looking after their colleague, his family, and every resident throughout. Sandra and everyone on your team, I'm incredibly proud of you.

We've just launched a new marketing video for Horizon House in Bolton, and I'd love for you to watch it. It shows exactly the kind of service we're building, and I think it'll make you proud. You'll find it on the Club Wellgate website and our social channels.

A lot of you have told us we need better governance and meeting frameworks, so I'm pleased to say that from August, we're launching a new governance structure across Wellgate. Every service will have clear, consistent ways of working. Every person we support will have a forum where their voice is heard. And every manager will know exactly what's expected of them and who to go to for support.

Looking ahead, my ambition is simple. I want Wellgate to be known as one of the best care organisations in the country, a place staff are proud to work for, and residents are proud to call home, where families feel complete confidence in the care their loved ones are getting. I think we're already on that path.

One last thing. You've heard me talk about our Recognition Awards happening in September, and nominations close on 31 July. If someone on your team deserves recognising, please don't let that deadline pass.

Click here to nominate or visit the Recognition Awards page to find out more.

I'd love to know what you want more of from these updates. What's landed well, what have you enjoyed hearing about, and what would you like me to cover more of next time?

Thank you all. Rob
