Wade Court raises £1,000 for Cancer Research UK
By Ceri Owen, Service Manager at Wade Court
We've raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK, a charity that's close to all our hearts.
Six of us from Wade Court took on the Race for Life 5k this month. Dani, Lisa, Ruth, Amelia, Carla and I lined up together for a cause that matters to every one of us.
It didn't start well. We were drenched before the race had even begun. But the moment we set off, the sun broke through, and a rainbow followed us the whole way round the course. Honestly, it felt like the weather knew exactly what the day meant and decided to join in.
The route took us through the stunning grounds of Trentham Gardens, with a rock choir singing and cheering us along every step of the way. Somewhere in the middle of it all, we spotted Deborah from Skills pausing for a cheeky selfie, right in the middle of a rock ballad. Little moments like that are the ones you remember.
We had such a great time out there, and I'm delighted, honestly quite moved, to say that together we raised an amazing £1,000+ for a charity that means so much to us.
I'm so proud of my team for coming together for this. Dani, Lisa, Ruth, Amelia and Carla gave up an evening, ran in the rain, and didn't stop smiling the whole way through.
Standing at that finish line, knowing what we'd raised, is something I won't forget.
Roll on next year. And thank you, from all of us, to everyone who donated. It meant more than you probably know.
